For the past week and a half, Hunter has been in the midst of a huge decision. Should he please the crowds and follow the clapping & encouragements into walkinghood? Or does he stay in the baby-comfort-zone of crawlingness for a while longer, enjoying the last moments of sharing the weight with two other appendages? Should he embrace the trips/falls/bumps/bruises when he could be casually scooping up Cheerios from the ground without even adjusting his gait? Does he really want to be responsible for getting himself from point A to point B, when his parents have done a pretty darn good job of carrying him from place to place? Wow, decisions decisions. The crawling thing sounds pretty cush, if I don't say so myself.
But alas, his decision was made, pretty much exactly on his 14 month birthday. The moment he took 31 steps across the room there was no going back, as he unfortunately showed his parents his potential for greatness, and set the bar even higher for his new WALKING self.
Are we thrilled that he's walking? Oh my, yes! Are we a little sad, too? Of sorts. But mostly we're happy, and so excited to take on the new challenge of a baby who is looking and acting more like a KID!
Zac and Zoey both walked within days of their 14 month birthday! Go Hunter Go!!!
ReplyDeleteI have such a vivid memory of Zoey's walking skills! :) Hunter knows he's going to have to start keeping up with his cousins so he better start now! :)
